For more information about volunteering for FFGDR, please email us at email@example.com. Or to see us in action, check out or Events tab and come visit us at one of our many Illinois or Indiana events.
- Transporting - volunteers offer to fill segments of a transport. We generally ask that you drive a maximum of 2-4 hour round trip transports. Transports are required to move dogs coming into rescue and going to the foster homes or leaving rescue and going to their forever families.
- Fostering - fostering is the ultimate commitment as a rescue volunteer. Foster families make the commitment to incorporate the dogs into their home and their pack for the length of time necessary to complete their medical, emotional, and behavioral needs. Dogs are generally in foster care anywhere from 6 weeks to 3 months. Older, harder-to-adopt dogs or dogs that are heart worm positive or require surgery can be in foster care for 3-6 months. The rescue pays for all medical costs while the foster homes donate food.
- Fundraising - the majority of the money we use to treat the dogs that come through our rescue comes from donations and fundraising. Fundraiser include booths, meet and greets, dog washes, etc. We always need volunteers that are willing to help at events, organize fundraisers, write for donations, hang posters, and help educate and spread the word about the group via social media.
